Montcalmès - Marvis Wine Club

Established in 1999 in the Coteaux du Languedoc, Domaine de Montcalmès is located in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac, at an altitude of 300 meters, the highest point in the Languedoc, producing wines of exceptional freshness. Frédéric Pourtalié, the estate's founder, worked with renowned winemakers such as Alain Graillot and Laurent Vallié before launching his first vintage in 1999 with 5,000 bottles.
Today, the 22-hectare vineyards extend across Puéchabon, Aniane, Saint Jean de Fos, and Saint Saturnin de Lucian, benefiting from diverse terroirs: Mourvèdre vines grow on rounded pebbles in Aniane, while Syrah and Grenache grapes thrive on a limestone plateau in Puéchabon. This geological diversity allows Frédéric Pourtalié to vinify each grape variety separately, extracting the best from each plot.
The cultivation methods are traditional and meticulous, with low yields of 20hl/ha. In the cellar, the wine is aged in oak barrels (former Romanée Conti barrels) for twenty-four months, with each grape variety vinified and aged separately before the final blending two months prior to bottling.
