Collection: Théo Blet & Simon Rémy
Marvis has chosen to highlight young Loire Valley talents this holiday season: Théo Blet in Saumur and Simon Rémy in Bourgueil. Their reds are distinguished by their supple and intensely fruity Cabernet Franc, while the Saumur Blanc displays remarkable complexity and roundness. The Bourgueil Au fil des Coteaux, priced at €21, is a splendid success and is already poised to become a future Marvis bestseller. It has everything: ripe Cabernet Franc, finesse, and a long finish. A great Bourgueil.
Simon Rémy is a young winemaker based on the edge of the Bel Air estate in Bourgueil, whose wines we have been following for many years. The Gauthier family quickly took him under their wing, offering advice and support during his winemaking process, even encouraging him to acquire a plot of land near the legendary Clos Nouveau. Simon's wines demonstrate true precision, and there is no doubt that he will become one of the rising stars of the appellation. Without trying to replicate the Gauthier style, he crafts wines that are less extracted, more infused, and driven by a mineral expression. He currently produces two cuvées: Au fil des Coteaux, which can be enjoyed now, and Vlaudons, a more ambitious cuvée that will benefit from a few years of cellaring, like all great Cabernet Franc.
In Saumur, Théo Blet has taken over the family estate and now cultivates one hectare of white grapes and one hectare of red. Like Simon Rémy, he benefits from the support of renowned winemakers such as the Chevré and Germain families, emblematic figures of the appellation.
The Saumur Blanc is delicate, fresh, and floral, marked by notes of pear and white flowers. The palate offers a lovely richness, enhanced by elegant yeasty nuances. A very fine Saumur, combining vivacity and fullness.
Saumur Rouge is characterized by a style that is fresh, ripe, and crisp. Although aged in barrels, it primarily expresses aromas of red fruits—blackcurrant, raspberry—and develops very supple tannins.
“We first noticed Théo Blet with his debut vintage. Two years later, his 2023 confirms the young winemaker’s intuitive talent. La Peyanne will be the first in a promising story. A fine, elegant, unpretentious white wine, which will be further refined by longer aging (twelve to eighteen months) from 2024 onwards.” Revue des Vins de France
