Collection: Auguste Clape

Auguste Clape was the founder of the estate and the former mayor of Cornas and, like other winemakers in this selection, literally made Cornas the appellation it is today with Alain Voge since his first vintage in 1949.
Today, his son and grandsons, Pierre-Marie and Olivier, carry the torch of this iconic Rhône estate. A discreet and modest family, focused on the excellence of their wines.

Auguste Clape - Marvis Wine Club

"The wines of this estate powerfully and convincingly represent a traditional vision, in the best sense of the word, of the Cornas appellation. Thanks to a fabulous vineyard heritage and a simple yet intelligent approach to winemaking, they produce straightforward and elegant wines that have established themselves as benchmarks, both within the appellation and throughout the northern Rhône Valley. Here, whole-cluster fermentation and aging in old oak casks are favored. This results in understated wines that defy aging and express the Cornas terroir with strength and brilliance. A model for the appellation." Revue des Vins de France
