Alain Graillot was one of the pioneers in the revival of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. Today, his estate is run by his two sons, Antoine and Maxime, and together they craft some of the most vibrant and precise Syrahs in the appellation. His unwavering consistency in excellence, vintage after vintage, places him among the most sought-after winemakers for lovers of delicate northern Syrahs. Tasting an Alain Graillot wine is an unforgettable experience, so distinct is it from the rest of the appellation: his vinification of whole (undestemmed) grapes and the absence of new oak barrels impart remarkable fruit purity, finesse, and balance to the wines. His wines are enjoyable young but also age gracefully, particularly his flagship cuvée, La Guiraude, which, along with Clos des Grives, forms the iconic duo of the appellation.
