Collection: Clos du Caillou

We present to you a new estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, undoubtedly one of the most exciting regions at the moment, as it now knows how to combine freshness and elegance – contrary to the image of heavy wines that it has long conveyed.
Concentration and finesse: this is how one could summarize the style of Clos du Caillou. Added to this is a remarkably reasonable pricing policy considering the quality of the wines. The Côtes-du-Rhône Les Quartz, offered at €23, already evokes, in many respects, a true Châteauneuf.

Clos du Caillou

Located at the gateway to the appellation, Clos du Caillou is a benchmark estate, renowned for its exceptionally precise Côtes-du-Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines. Owned by the Vacheron family, it has been certified organic for over 35 years.
The estate's unique geological character lies in the richness and diversity of its soils: the rounded pebbles (quartz), which retain heat and promote full ripening of the grapes, contribute density and richness; the sandy soils, known as safres, impart finesse, freshness, and a subtle minerality. The signature of Clos du Caillou rests on this alchemy: a natural concentration always balanced by remarkable elegance. From the very first vintages, the purity and delicacy of the white wines deserve special mention.
2023 Vintage: balanced
The year 2023 offered ideal climatic conditions in Châteauneuf-du-Pape: a dry winter followed by regular rainfall until August ensured ample water supply. The wines display a beautiful structure, great purity of fruit, and a balance reminiscent of the excellent 2000 and 2012 vintages.
2024 Vintage: Delicate
A rainy winter and a wet spring required extra attention to the vines. The moderate summer allowed for slow ripening without water stress. The harvest was long and complex, often delayed to ensure optimal maturity. The 2024 vintage yields balanced, concentrated wines with silky tannins and marked freshness, in a refined style reminiscent of the great vintages of the 1990s.

"Clos du Caillou is distinguished by the great purity of its wines. The estate has now established itself as one of the appellation's leading producers thanks to a range of top-quality Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône wines." La Revue du Vin de France
