Collection: Thibault Liger-Belair

Thibault Liger-Belair has managed this two-hundred-year-old estate on some of the finest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy since 2001. In 2008, he felt the urge to explore the terroirs of Beaujolais, further south, applying the same principles to the granitic soils of Moulin-à-Vent as he had for Burgundy: isolating each terroir to express its full potential. Moulin, like the rest of Beaujolais, is composed of soils made up of ancient granite, allowing the lush Gamay grape variety to flourish in perfect balance.

Moulin-à-Vent is one of the ten Beaujolais crus and is considered a land of exceptional Gamay grapes that develop Pinot Noir characteristics with age. At the beginning of the 20th century, wine merchants were offering Moulin-à-Vent wines at the same price as the Grand Cru wines of the Côte de Nuits. A Moulin-à-Vent offers depth, an elegant body, great finesse, and above all, exceptional aging potential. To develop his wines there, Thibault traveled extensively throughout the region, interviewing winemakers to identify the best terroirs of Moulin-à-Vent. He applies the same approach and rigor as for his Grand Cru wines of the Côte de Nuits: reintroducing plowing, eliminating herbicides, and extended aging in Burgundy barrels in his cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Thanks to the meticulous precision of his winemaking and the care he lavishes on the vines, Thibault is undoubtedly one of the greatest winemakers of Burgundy and Beaujolais.

Revue du Vin de France: "We are won over by the respect for the fruit and the mastery of the winemaking process demonstrated by the winemaker, who proudly represents Beaujolais with his style and expertise. The consistency, depth, savoriness, and aging potential of the range earn the estate its second star."
